4 Outdoor Kitchen Design Ideas for the Summer carroll landscaping

Do you want to make the most of summer? With an outdoor kitchen, you can!

Summer is right around the corner. Do you want to make the most of it? With an outdoor kitchen, you can! An outdoor kitchen makes your backyard feel like an extension of your home. And, with the right design, your outdoor kitchen will be the prime entertainment spot for all your friends and family. Here are some design ideas to make your outdoor kitchen your new unique outdoor living space.

Location Location Location

When designing an outdoor kitchen, you need to decide its location first. You’ll want to choose a spot close enough to your house so you don’t have to haul your cooking supplies back and forth whenever you need them. You should also consider how much shade you’ll get during summer and other environmental factors like exposure to wind or rain.

Choose Durable Materials

Your outdoor kitchen must withstand the elements, so choosing durable and low maintenance is vital. Granite countertops look luxurious, but ceramic tiles are an excellent and more affordable option. Choose stainless steel or powder-coated aluminum for cabinets since these materials won’t rust over time. Flooring is especially important! Concrete pavers or brick look elegant and provide excellent drainage in rain or spills.

Add Comfortable Furniture

It is important to create a comfortable sitting area for your guests. Choose weather-resistant furniture pieces, like wicker or teak, and combine them with colorful outdoor cushions that you can swap out seasonally to keep the space fresh and inviting—place tables and chairs with multiple seating arrangements to give your guests multiple options to relax after dinner.

Light Up the Night

With summer comes longer days and warmer nights. Who says the fun has to stop when the Sun goes down? Lighting is critical when creating an enjoyable atmosphere in your outdoor kitchen. String lights are always popular no matter the season or occasion—they provide soft illumination and create a magical ambiance at night. Some grills feature built-in lighting, but you need to plan electrical lines and wiring to support lighting for your full kitchen area if you plan to use it after dark.

Lighting prep areas is essential; you should also consider the space around your kitchen. Do you have a bar island or patio tables?  Be sure to light the areas where you want to relax and enjoy your kitchen.
